Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes his old club can be a threat to the Premier League title this season.
Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez both scored in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Leicester City, which leaves the Foxes third on 22 points, six points behind leaders Liverpool but having played a game more.
Enzo Maresca’s side have already played six of the current top eight so far this season but have lost just one of their last 11 in the league since an opening-day defeat to City.
And with their attacking quartet on song and the defence slowly improving, Petit feels the Blues could be a dark horse in this year’s title race.
With the team’s game improving both in attack and defense, Petit feels the Blues can be a dark horse in the title race after playing tough games against the league’s top teams, with the only loss to Manchester City.
“They’ve played all those games against top teams and now they’re third, just six points behind Liverpool,” Petit told Premier League Productions.
“The team had a tough game at the start of the season – Manchester City in the opening game. I think when I look at the schedule, especially since January, they can keep winning.”
