Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has urged his team to get back to winning ways in midweek’s Champions League clash ahead of next week’s tough clash with Liverpool.
The Citizens were hammer 4-0 at home by Spurs in the Premier League on Saturday, making it five straight defeats in all competitions, which has shake their title defence. The team will travel to Anfield next to face their biggest title rivals, with a European clash against Feyenoord in between, and Walker has urged his teammates to win to restore their confidence.
“It’s a great game to turn things around and get three points from a team that’s above you,” Walker told Sky Sports.
“But we can’t play like that or we’ll get hammer. We have a Champions League game to prepare for on Sunday and squeeze the gap on Liverpool as close as possible.”
Asked if the poor form had damaged his confidence, Walker said: “I wouldn’t say we’ve lost all confidence. I’ve spent eight years with this team. You lose confidence as a team, but we have to remember what we’ve achieved.”
“What we have achieved in the past does not mean anything. It is history. We have a superior team that is doing well. We have to fight until the end as we always do.”
“The best way to turn this UFABET situation around is Tuesday’s game. Hopefully it goes well and we can see the Man City that we were in the last eight seasons. Your energy doesn’t just disappear. We know our qualities and our weaknesses. You win, you gain confidence and we’ll be the same team again.”
